What can I do to help a loved one decide if Air Force Village will be a good fit?

I'm concerned for my loved one's financial security. More Info

A move to Air Force Village is a prudent investment in your loved one's future. It is their assurance of a continuum of health care, a secure place to live and a community of like-minded patriots.

Air Force Village has been involved in senior living since 1971 and is rated BBB by Fitch. It is one of only 16% of Continuing Care Retirement Communities in the country to earn a prestigious CCAC/CARF accreditation. The Air Force Villages Charitable Foundation supports the Village's core charitable mission of supporting widows in need, and the Foundation is funded by individual donations, Officers' Spouses' Clubs around the world and the Air Force Assistance Fund. The financial stability and future of Air Force Village are secure and governed by a Board of Directors that is vigilant in its oversight.

Residents pay an initial entrance fee for their residence and a monthly service fee that entitles them to amenities and services that include a meal plan, water, basic cable TV, residence and ground maintenance, trash collection, exterminator, weekly housekeeping service, scheduled transportation to the Lackland BX/commissary/local grocery store, building insurance, and use of facilities that include the arts & crafts center, chapel, computer room, hobby shop, pool, meeting areas and fitness center.

Flexible provisions in Air Force Village entrance fees allow for an estate preservation plan for those who wish to leave a greater portion of their estate to heirs.

We are worried about health and aging issues. More Info

Most of us become concerned about our loved ones as they age. We fear their health will decline, their function may diminish, they could fall and require rehabilitation, they'll suffer memory loss. If any ills should befall them, how can they care for themselves in a traditional home or apartment setting? How can we, their family and friends, care for them?

The full continuum of care is their assurance at Air Force Village. They may require short-term care following surgery or an illness. Perhaps they'll need to move to assisted living where they can retain as much of their independence as possible, with a little personal assistance in activities of daily living. Should they need long-term care or dementia care, Air Force Village offers the highest standards of care and our staff helps make the transition from independent living to other forms of care as seamless and painless as possible. Families are important to the process - lending loving support without being burdened with day-to-day care. Residents who require care are relieved of the anxiety that comes for those who must turn to their families for care giving. Once your loved one is a resident of Air Force Village, he or she is entitled to all levels of health care. And as an accredited Continuing Care Retirement Community, Air Force Village is at the upper echelon of communities nationwide - an assurance of quality care, professionalism and excellence.

Knowing that the services and care are comprehensive and eligibility is assured brings peace of mind to residents and their families.

Who will watch out for my loved one so far away from family? More Info

The Air Force family believes in the Air Force philosophy that we "take care of our own." Not only is the Air Force Village staff fully responsive to the needs and wishes of our residents ... but our residents take it upon themselves to watch out for one another. It's as if your loved one will have an extended family of hundreds. Neighbors check on each other; residents dine together in the community; they socialize regularly and urge new residents to join in activities that interest them. If your loved one enjoys exercise, games, travel, computers, crafts, hobbies or other pursuits, he or she will find a group that enjoys the same. This is a true community where no one feels isolated. And for those residents who require some level of health care, the Air Force Village professional staff builds strong and trusting relationships that give residents a sense of security, dignity and value.

To further ensure your loved one's security, Air Force Village is a gated community with 24-hour security services. At night, the security staff patrols the grounds. Also, each residence has an emergency call system connected to the front desk or Health Care Center for rapid response. Fire protection is provided throughout the residences with smoke detector alarms, and the high-rise residences have sprinkler systems.

What advantages can Air Force Village offer my loved one? More Info

As we get older, it gets harder to manage a household, maintain a home and yard, prepare meals and manage all the bill-paying. Taxes, health care, insurance - things that once were routine become burdensome and complex for many seniors.

Life at Air Force Village frees residents from the tedium of these responsibilities so they may enjoy their retirement in a worry-free environment where they are mentally, emotionally, physically and socially stimulated.

Family members find peace of mind knowing that their loved ones are active, secure and happy, and their needs are being met.
