Our Charitable Foundation
Air Force Village opened in 1970 with a service mission: to provide excellent retirement living with access to continuing health care for retired military officers and their spouses - and to give priority to retired Air Force officer widows/widowers in need of financial assistance.
Today, Air Force Village continues to fulfill that mission, helping widows who have lovingly, patiently and patriotically served alongside their husbands. To ensure that we may sustain this core charitable mission in perpetuity, the AFV Board of Directors founded the Air Force Villages Charitable Foundation in 2004, a 501(c)(3) organization. Your gifts to the Charitable Foundation help widows and honor all residents - creating a quality environment that accomplishes and transcends the original mission.
The Charitable Foundation, led by a Board of Directors, has raised more than $20 million, which includes $4 million for the Widows’ Endowment and funds used in the construction of Freedom House. A menu of funding options allows donors to lend their support in a way that is most meaningful to them - through gifts that bring joy, advance healing, and let our heroes know that their sacrifices continue to be remembered and appreciated.
Every day, we are honored to help widows/widowers maintain their dignity, health and comfort through the financial assistance made possible by your gifts. And we are grateful to the Air Force Assistance Fund and Officers’ Spouses’ Clubs across the world for continuing to provide support for our core charitable mission.
